Log houses are cosy to live in. Natural materials and wooden surfaces create a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere. Everyone feels good in the healthy indoors air – people, pets and plants. Yet the manufacturing techniques used to create these natural havens mean that they incorporate all modern conveniences and will last for many years with only basic maintenance.
Previously operated as a caravan and camping location,
we are transforming the site with the introduction of log
homes built to the highest standards. Designed and
manufactured by Finnlamelli, our homes are rooted deep
in the log house tradition of Alajärvi in Finland. Active
product development and state-of-the-art technology
continue to keep Finnlamelli log houses at the leading
edge of log home production and manufacture.
This is an excellence achieved without neglecting nature, since a clean environment fit for living is a fundamental necessity of life. Timber as a material is not harmful to the environment and its use in our buildings enhances the beauty of the location while opening up the natural history of the area to visiting families.
Such an ethos fits well with the principles of the North York
Moors National Park. They are to conserve and enhance the
natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National
Park and to promote opportunities for the understanding and
enjoyment of the special qualities of the Park by the public.
National Parks must also seek to foster the economic and
social well-being of local communities and at the same time,
ensure that the use and enjoyment of the natural and cultural
resources should not, in overall terms, destroy them.
With such principles in mind, the introduction of a sympathetically designed community of homes into the Lowfield site has achieved its aim of forming a beneficial symbiotic relationship with the aims of the National Parks Authority.
